Furqan Qureshi brings over three decades of industry experience. He has served in ‘C’ level positions for over 20 years. His career focus has been to transform businesses with effective use of technology to generate revenue and profits. From his first day at work at IBM to his last job as Chief Commercial Officer at PTCL, he has garnered the respect of his colleagues, who appreciate his contribution to business, industry and community. An individual with a vision, a prolific speaker in disciplines as diverse as Soft Skills. Leadership, to Digital Transformation, he chose to give back what he has learnt and stepped forward in disciplines of Consulting, Design Thinking, and Start-Up Mentoring. He is an individual with wealth of experience in business and technology, demonstrated leadership, and possesses a strong penchant for intellectual curiosity. He has achieved certification in Design Thinking from MIT. He is currently building a community of Design Thinkers. The subject of leadership has traversed in differing ways. It has many faces e.g. Situational Leadership, Strategic Leadership, Innovative Leadership, Leadership for Innovation, Transformational Leadership to the more recent Agile Leadership and Servant Leadership, etc.. All facets of leadership emphasize some leadership characteristics or another set of characteristics. Much has been written on the subject and continues to be written as research continues to discover leadership. This course focuses on a higher level of leadership discipline i.e. Leadership Competencies and Behaviors rather than on leadership characteristics and traits.

The Extraordinary Leader model, encapsulates all types of leadership styles, characteristics, competencies and practices. It is built on five fundamental leadership competency pillars i.e. Character, Personal Capability, Interpersonal Skills, Leading Change and Focus on Results. These five  competencies influence and are influenced by eleven additional competencies and accompanying 100+ behaviors. This model has been tested for the past 15 years and is based on empirical research on executives across the world, which today, has covered over 700,000 executives. The participants learn about sixteen competencies that elevates them from Manager or a Leader to an Extraordinary Leader.

The course focuses more on the ‘How’ of leadership and less on the ‘What’ of leadership. The hallmark of the course is bringing market practices into the classroom using 21 short case studies, 15 Self-Assessments, 6 exercises.
