Overview

The Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is a four-month blended learning program designed to equip early years educators with essential knowledge and practical skills to support children’s holistic development. The program integrates theory, play-based pedagogy, curriculum planning, assessment, and field-based practicum. Aligned with national and international ECCE standards and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4, it promotes inclusive, high-quality early childhood education through professional training and hands-on experience.

Diploma Trainers

Saira Shahab

Saira Shahab is a seasoned education specialist with over twenty-three years of leadership in Early Childhood Education (ECCE), Foundational Learning (FL), and teacher professional development. She has played a pivotal role in shaping provincial education reform with the Sindh Education and Literacy Department (SELD), where she led the policy integration of ECCE and FL, developed a Foundational Learning Program for early years, and co-developed the Inclusive Education Curriculum Framework and Teacher Training Program spanning ECCE to secondary levels. Her contributions have strengthened inclusive, equitable, and quality learning opportunities for children across Sindh.

Saira has designed and managed large-scale teacher training, curriculum development, and school improvement initiatives. Saira has collaborated with global partners such as UNICEF, USAID, UNESCO, British Asian Trust, British Council, and Oxfam-GB, focusing on early learning, inclusion, and gender equity.

She has authored foundational literacy and numeracy programs, graded readers, and teacher manuals, and trained over 10,000 educators in child-centered pedagogies. Holding a Master’s in Applied Linguistics–TESOL (University of Queensland, Australia) and degrees in Education and Economics, she also holds international certifications from Cambridge University and Finnish Global Education Solutions in Early Childhood Education. A member of NAEYC, TESOL International, and CIES, she continues to champion inclusive, evidence-based, and transformative education for young learners in Pakistan.

Noshin Khan

Noshin Khan is an accomplished Early Childhood Education (ECE) specialist with over 20 years of expertise in higher education, teacher training, and programme leadership in Pakistan and Canada. She holds a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Studies and a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education from Ryerson University, Canada. She is a registered Early Childhood Educator with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.

As a faculty member at Ryerson University and Sheridan College, she taught and mentored early childhood education (ECE) students, supervised field placements, and supported their transition from theory to classroom practice. Designed and delivered courses focused on child development, curriculum planning, and inclusive pedagogy, contributing to the development of reflective and skilled early years educators.

In Pakistan, she served as Senior Manager ECE at the Teachers’ Resource Centre (TRC), where she developed and implemented a CACHE UK-endorsed ECE Diploma program and mentored early childhood educators nationwide. As Program Director at Teaching Table Ltd, she led professional development for over 300 educators and collaborated with UNICEF to train master trainers and design ECE training resources.

Currently engaged as an Education Consultant with UNICEF, she is leading large-scale early learning and teacher development initiatives that promote play-based, inclusive, and multilingual education.

Her research experience includes qualitative studies and publications in early childhood education and child health, focusing on pedagogy, professional practice, and children’s well-being. She has co-authored peer-reviewed articles and contributed to provincial education reviews and policy documents that inform ECE programming in Pakistan.

Amna Hussain

With over 22 years of distinguished experience in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), Ms. Amna Hussain stands as a leading expert in the field, having shaped policy, curriculum, and teacher development across Pakistan’s public and private education sectors.

She holds an M.Ed in Early Childhood Education and an MPhil in Teacher Education from the University of Karachi, grounding her practice in both pedagogical theory and applied research.

Throughout her career, Ms. Hussain has held pivotal roles including:

  • ECCE Coordinator and Lecturer for B.Ed and ADE programs at the prestigious Notre Dame Institute of Education
  • Consultant for ECCE initiatives with the School Education and Literacy Department (SELD), UNICEF, and Oxford University Press (OUP)
  • Program Manager for ECCE, overseeing strategic implementation and capacity building

Her contributions to curriculum development are nationally recognized. She is:

  • Co-author of the ECCE Provincial Curriculum 2018
  • Author of “First Steps to Early Years Maths” (Oxford University Press)
  • Author of “The Art Lab”, a creative learning resource published by Stallion

Currently, Ms. Hussain serves as the Academic Head for the Pre-Primary Section within the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at HHS School System, where she leads pedagogical innovation and quality assurance for early years’ education.

Her work reflects a deep commitment to nurturing foundational learning, empowering educators, and advancing ECCE as a cornerstone of lifelong development.
